Habitat Kicks Off 20 Homes for 2023

It’s another historic year at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne! We kicked off our first home build out of 20 homes in 2023 — the most we’ve built in a season in our local affiliate’s history.

The first home to begin construction is located in the Renaissance Pointe neighborhood and is one of 16 homes that will be built in Southeast Fort Wayne this year. One home will be built for Vincent Village through a continued non-profit partnership, one in New Haven in partnership with Lancia Homes, and two in Huntington.

“In 2019, we zeroed in on what we do best — homebuilding, preparing families for homeownership, and creating an unforgettable volunteer experience. That focus helped us scale from an average of 7 homes built per year to now 20 homes in the 2023-24 season. The significant growth we’ve experienced the last few years has allowed us to walk alongside more hard-working Habitat Partner Families on their journey towards homeownership and created more opportunities for community collaboration.”

Habitat Partner Families Ranesha and Myka joined Habitat staff, board members, and community partners to help us celebrate the first build of the season. Both families are close to completing their sweat equity requirements and can’t wait to be neighbors later this year!

Most of the 20 Habitat homes built this year will be one of the two new home layouts we introduced in 2022, the Triumph and Victory.
