2025 Annual Report: Homeowner Services

2025 new Habitat families

Homeowner Services Update

This build season, 43 families officially enrolled in the Habitat Homeownership Program in Allen County. Following an orientation, these families began the transformative 18-24 month process of classes, volunteer hours, and construction. We remain committed to walking alongside these homeowners as they put in the hard work necessary to achieve long-term stability and strength through shelter.

Our application process was open to those living and/or working in Allen and Huntington Counties, which we’ll continue into the 2026-27 season.

  • I wanted my son to see that his mom could do it, and one day he could do it too. Creating generational wealth—passing that on to my son and then maybe even my grandchildren—that’s what this means to me.

Carol’s Story

Carol family

Carol has always dreamed of owning her own home, but for many years, it felt financially out of reach. After going through homelessness, she started paying $1,500 a month to house herself and her daughters in a mobile home.

Once she got back on her feet, the frustration of spending money on something she could never own only strengthened her determination. Then someone told her about Habitat.

In July 2025, Carol was accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program, and her dream began to take shape. Homeownership means more than just having a roof over her family’s heads. Carol is working toward the safety, security, and financial freedom she wants for her girls. But families like hers can’t do it alone. Support from donors makes this progress possible. Without it, too many families remain stuck, struggling just to get by instead of moving forward. Your support of Habitat GFW helps turn determination into an actual home for families like Carol’s.

  • Thank you, I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. -Carol, Habitat Homeowner
