    Habitat homes provide families with a stable foundation on which to build a strong future.​ While a renter remains in one location on average of 2.3 years, a homeowner stays in their home for an average of 8 years.

    Affordable homeownership encourages self-reliance, confidence, and health and safety.​ 74% of Habitat homeowners reported that their overall health had improved since moving into their new home. 97% reported that Habitat has improved their quality of life.

  • Educational Benefits

    Homeownership leads to better test scores and higher rates of high school graduation and college attendance, especially among low-income homeowners. Children of Habitat homeowners have an 11% higher graduation rate and are 4.5x more likely to get a postsecondary education.

    U.S. homeowners have an average net wealth that is​ 400% higher compared to renters with similar demographics and earnings.
