We celebrated Elashia’s home dedication with her family and community supporters this month. Elashia is a resilient and hardworking mom of two who poured her heart into every step of her Habitat journey.
Elashia shared with us that before moving back in with her mom, life was hard—“I was going through it — emotionally, mentally, spiritually.” She decided to apply for the Habitat Homeownership Program because she needed something positive in her life.
“Every time I walked into Habitat and saw all the happy and encouraging people, it lifted me in ways you all don’t even know. Some days, Lauren’s smile was the only thing holding me together, like duct tape, but cuter!”

Today, Elashia and her two daughters are settling into their home and making it their own. Inspired by the confidence she gained working alongside our construction team, Elashia recently refinished a secondhand kitchen island, which is now proudly placed at the heart of her kitchen. It’s more than just furniture—it’s a symbol of strength, creativity, and a fresh start.
