Open door to can shed full of bags of cans

Habitat GFW Ranked #3 Nationwide for Recycling Aluminum Cans

Wow. Our Aluminum Can Recycling program has been ranked the third-largest among 52 Habitat affiliates nationwide. Through this community-driven initiative, we raised an impressive $15,944 in 2024!

Our program includes 16 convenient can shed locations across Allen County. More shed locations will be added in 2025 thanks to the support from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish and their Carpenter’s Sons Ministry. Locations to drop off cans can be found at habitatgfw.com/cans.

Cardboard box that reads "every can counts" for recycling aluminum cans

Habitat 50 gal. cardboard bins are available for free to the community to utilize indoors to help collect large quantities of cans before they can be dropped off at a nearby shed. Request a box for your business, school, or church by emailing info@habitatgfw.com.

Huntington County residents can easily drop off collected cans at Clark’s Recycling in Huntington and allocate their donation to Habitat GFW.

New Homeowner: Alma

Jamie Lancia with Habitat Homeowner

Congrats, Alma!! Alma is a kind, caring nurse and one of the most hardworking people you’ll ever meet. We’re so happy for her and her children to settle into their new home! Huge thank you Lancia Homes for their unwavering partnership and commitment to investing in affordable homeownership.

“If I could go back and tell myself as a little girl that everything’s gonna be okay, you’re gonna be okay — you’re going to go to college, get a degree, you’re going to meet amazing people. God has always been there with me and I thank Habitat, my parents, my siblings, my sister, Antonio, my kids because nobody can do things alone.” – Alma, 2025 Habitat Homeowner

Congrats, Tin Soe and Nan Oo! This young family joined the Habitat Homeownership Program in 2023 and they have been steadily reaching their goals and working hard to get to this day. We’re so proud of Tin Soe and Nan Oo and wish them and their boys so many amazing memories in their new home!

Their home was constructed last year during the BAE Systems Panel Build — thank you to everyone at BAE for their support of Habitat families and affordable homeownership.
