A successful golf outing, two new Habitat homeowners, a happy ending for Fay, and more happenings at Habitat GFW this September.
“I am incredibly excited to join Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne. My faith has always inspired me to serve others, and I look forward to working alongside the Habitat team, our Future Homeowners, and our community partners to continue transforming lives and neighborhoods through affordable homeownership.”
Melissa McKown
CEO, Habitat GFW
“Melissa’s proven leadership in both healthcare and the nonprofit sector, combined with her deep-rooted faith, gives us complete confidence in her ability to bring Habitat GFW’s strategic vision to life,” said Karl Einolf, Habitat GFW Board Chair. “What stands out most about Melissa is her genuine care for people. Her heart for our community will help expand affordable homeownership opportunities and ensure families across Greater Fort Wayne have the support they need to build stability and hope for the future.”
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys home improvement projects, attending Sprint car races, and traveling with her husband, Brent. Together, they have a 22-year-old daughter, Taylor, a recent graduate of Indiana University Bloomington. Melissa stays active in the community by volunteering with Humane Fort Wayne and Community Harvest Food Bank. She and Brent also foster for the Fort Wayne Pitbull Coalition and share their home with two rescued pit bull mixes, Larsyn and Marlie.
Under Melissa’s leadership, Habitat GFW looks forward to an exciting new chapter of growth as they strive to build more homes, serve more families, and create greater opportunities for affordable homeownership throughout Allen, Huntington, and Wells Counties.
