We are overwhelmed with joy and excited for this next chapter to serve 26 families in the next 12 months.
While the Habitat construction team and community volunteers will again build 20 homes this season, long-time partner of Habitat GFW, Lancia Homes, will build one home for Habitat in New Haven. D.R. Horton will construct one home in the Renaissance Pointe neighborhood of Fort Wayne and Royal Developments will build four homes in East Central Fort Wayne as part of the Innovative Housing Showcase partnership with the City of Fort Wayne.

I’m very grateful to be one of the 26 blessed families. Without Habitat I don’t know how I would have gotten a home. A couple of years ago I applied for a home and was denied, it was heartbreaking. Homeownership is a goal of mine and thanks to Habitat, staff, partners, and volunteers my dream is becoming a reality.
I’ve learned a lot about myself and I’ve learned a lot within the classes I’ve taken throughout the program. The financial classes have helped me a lot — I know that’s one of the reasons I and many of the other families in the program have been turned away from typical lenders to get a home. I started with over $10,000 in debt and through the classes with Habitat I’ve paid off about 90% of that. This isn’t just getting accepted into a program to get a house; you have to work for it and it is 100% earned. I have friends who have bought houses through traditional lenders and they were stunned by how much support I’ve gotten through Habitat in this process.
The Innovative Housing Showcase will introduce and test four distinct, new construction types of homes in the Fort Wayne Housing Market through a partnership with the City of Fort Wayne and Royal Developments.
