Position Summary

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, and more to the public at discounted prices to further support Habitat for Humanity’s mission. The ReStore Assistant Manager (RAM) is an adaptable leader responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of daily operations within our unique retail environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving others and inspiring teams. The RAM’s primary focus will be managing ReStore team members and volunteers, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and high standards of excellence. This individual must possess a strong customer-centric mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving, capable of adapting to changing priorities and challenges. Main Responsibilities

LMA (Lead, Manage, and Accountability)

  • Follow the five leadership and management practices of EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System).

Operations / Customer Service

  • Oversee daily operations including sales, donations, and customer service.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by encouraging and empowering staff.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform cash drops, daily reconciliations, and prepare deposits.

Team Development

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and development to staff.
  • Identify and address employee performance issues.
  • Create opportunities for employee growth and advancement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Sales Performance

  • Achieve sales goals.
  • Motivate and coach sales associates to reach performance targets.
  • Perform markdown activities to ensure proper turn rate.

Safety / Security

  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment for staff and customers.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address hazards promptly.
  • Prevent theft and loss through security measures and employee training.

Other duties as assigned to support Habitat’s mission.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, or significant equivalent experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • At least 2 years of management experience and 2 years in customer service.
  • Previous retail experience strongly preferred.
  • General knowledge of building materials and resale values preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification, along with a clean driving record, is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform heavy manual tasks.
  • Must be able to utilize telephone to communicate with others, inside and outside of an office environment.
  • Must be able to perform outdoor job duties under all weather conditions.
