We celebrated two new Habitat homeowners, Cara and LaDasia, looked back at our first homeowner from 1986, and more from this March.
Our 9th Annual ReStore Your Passion was packed with fun, food, and fundraising to build homes for Habitat families.
This year, we hosted 350 guests—the most attendees we’ve ever had—and we raised enough money to subsidize 4 Habitat homes! Huge thank you to our generous sponsors, donors, attendees, and the one-of-a-kind furniture creations from our fabulous General Contractor teams who made this year’s event such a success.
For $50, guests grabbed a key, and if their number was called, they got their chance to try a mystery key in the prize door. The lucky keyholder? They unlocked 4 hours with a handyman!
We also awarded additional prizes: a ReStore shopping spree, a gift basket packed with Habitat swag, and two ReStore gift cards.
Huge thanks to Gen-D for sponsoring the grand prize.
Our generous friends at W.A. Zimmer donated a Sunesta Motorized Retractable Awning for our ReStore Your Passion silent auction!
From the high-quality Sunesta awning to the professional installation they’re providing, their contribution made our silent auction a success by raising $4,474.
Every year, our General Contractors rally a team, raise funds, and transform furniture donated through the Habitat ReStore.
Each piece is completely reimagined, styled to perfection, and revealed at the event, ready to be auctioned off with all the accessories included. The result? One-of-a-kind home treasures that support even more families on their journey to safe, affordable housing.
Life has been really hard, but I have always had faith that things are going to get better. I want to teach my children that if you work hard in life, God will see that.
Alma
Habitat Homeowner
This year, we were honored to welcome Habitat Homeowner Alma to the stage to share her story.
Alma is no stranger to hard work and perseverance. At the age of 14, Alma moved to the United States with her father, leaving the rest of her family in Mexico.
At 15, she began working in a factory while dreaming of one day going to college. At 17, she enrolled in high school and began learning English for the first time. After graduation, life kept Alma from college until she was 27. “I have always told God — ‘you don’t have to open a door for me, just open a little window, and I will get through there!’”
In 2019, Alma’s dream of graduating from college came true when she earned her nursing degree. She began working in home healthcare while raising her two children and set her sights on her next dream: homeownership. Through the Habitat Homeownership Program, Alma obtained an affordable mortgage and became a homeowner in 2025!
We’re sending a huge thank you to our emcees, Alyssa Ivanson with WANE-TV and Mo Moss with Rhythm & Praise 94.1, who both brought life to our event with your infectious enthusiasm and joy.
Thank you to our food/bar sponsors: Club Soda, Salsa Grille, Casa, Cookie Cottage, Saisaki, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Shigs ‘n Pit, and Moo-Over.
And a big round of applause for our event partners: The Steffen Group, Shaffer Multimedia, Speedbird Hangar Team, Kris Robertson, Hoover the Mover, Mutton Party & Tent Rental, The Baldus Company, and Specialized Printed Products—your behind-the-scenes support made everything run smoothly and look amazing!
