This week, we officially welcomed 20 new Partner Families into the Habitat Homeownership Program! Families received their hard hats, reviewed expectations of the program, and looked forward to what’s to come as they work toward their dream of homeownership.
“Trust the process,” shared Ray, current Habitat Partner Family. “Let the Habitat team guide you through the good moments and the tough ones. Be proud of the work you’re about to put in — no one is giving you a home, you’re working hard for it.”
Each Partner Family commits to up to 250 hours of sweat equity (building homes on the construction site, volunteering at the Fort Wayne ReStore, etc.), completes 8 financial and homeownership education classes, pays $1,000 toward the purchase of their home before closing, and takes on an affordable mortgage that is no more than 26% of their gross monthly income.
