Construction Update

Build Season: April 2022 – April 2023

Habitat celebrated a record-breaking 20 homes under construction this build season! Our incredible construction team and 19 volunteer crew leads led nearly 500 community volunteers to construct homes in Allen County and Huntington County.

  • I loved that the day wasn’t just about getting work done but we got to build relationships with the team and Partner Family who worked with with us.

Student Build 2023

Homestead High School senior, Edie Laurie, organized our first ‘Student Build’ event to help a local family achieve their dream of homeownership.

Homestead students, including members of Homestead’s Key Club, primed, painted, and installed flooring throughout an entire Habitat home for Habitat Partner Family, Ciaira. Edie first met Ciaira and her family during her Habitat Women Build volunteer day with the Jack Laurie Group team.

In 2023, we took the job site to five organizations — four in Allen County and one in Huntington County. We engaged 284 volunteers to build all of the interior and exterior wall panels of a Habitat home for families in our community. 💙

Fort Wayne Metals outdid themselves for their 4th annual panel build and built two homes in one day. Special thanks to Home Lumber for donating their trucks and time to deliver all the materials needed to each location.
