Habitat GFW Huntington County Build Kickoff
WHEN: Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.
WHERE: 633 E High Street, Huntington, IN
Construction on the home will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the first wall raised around 9:30-10:00 a.m.
This week marked an exciting milestone in Huntington County: the start of construction on the first of two new Habitat homes. At 633 E High Street, Future Homeowners Melissa, Amanda, and Zach worked side-by-side with Women Build volunteers from Gerdau to raise the walls.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the press conference, and a huge thank you to our community supporters for making this day possible.
“I’m deeply grateful for the support of our volunteers and partners who help make homeownership possible for families in Huntington County year after year. Safe, affordable housing lays the foundation for opportunity, stability, and a stronger future for our entire community.”

Jack Barlow
Habitat GFW Huntington Area Manager
Construction on the home with a Triumph floorplan — a one-story, 3-bedroom, 2-bath, 1,170 sq. ft. — will begin immediately following the press conference with help from Gerdau volunteers.
This Huntington build is made possible thanks to the generous support of this season’s sponsors, including The Ardelle and Theresa Glaze Foundation, IHCDA, Bendix, Schroeder’s Automotive, Garage Experts, Bippus State Bank, and Incipio Devices.
The first home built is our Triumph floorplan — a one-story, 3-bedroom, 2-bath, with 1,170 sq. ft. This home features a front porch that spans the front of the home and a back patio with an attached storage shed at the back of the home.

We’re very, very excited for our new house, especially our girls. This would not be possible without every one of you, thank you so much.
Amanda
Future Habitat Homeowner
Zac and Amanda are building the stability they always wished for growing up. With two young daughters, their home is filled with energy, imagination, and hope for what’s ahead. Their oldest has already picked out her bedroom in their future Habitat home and is planning how she’ll decorate it. They’re excited to finally have a yard to play in and space to host family for birthdays, holidays, and everyday memories.
Homeownership will be peace of mind: “We will never have to worry about rent going up,”Amanda shared. “There will always be a place for our daughters to grow up and come home to.” Their Habitat home represents hope, a chance to save money month to month, and the opportunity to give their girls a childhood rooted in the security of stability.
One of the homes to be built this season will be The Charlotte, Habitat GFW’s first two-story home in the county. Thoughtfully planned for both space and accessibility, the 1,396-square-foot house includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a first-floor bedroom and bath to support universal design; part of Habitat’s ongoing partnership with AWS Foundation to create inclusive, accessible spaces for families of all abilities. The home will also feature a front porch, back patio, and attached storage shed.
